Sensible Heat and Latent Heat Flux Estimates in a Tall and Dense Forest Canopy under Unstable Conditions

چکیده
A method to estimate the sensible heat flux (H) for unstable atmospheric condition requiring measurements taken in half-hourly basis as input and involving land surface temperature (LST), HLST, was tested over a tall dense aspen stand. The avoids need zero-plane displacement roughness length momentum. net radiation (Rn) latent (λE) dominated energy balance (SEB). Therefore, λE estimated applying residual using HLST input, λER-LST. sum of H determined with eddy covariance (EC) led imbalance 20% Rn. Thus, reference comparisons were forcing SEB EC Bowen ratio (BREB method). For clear sky days, performed close HBREB. it showed potential framework remote sensing because requirements are similar current methods widely used. cloudy scattered HBREB nearly matched accumulated hear flux. Regardless time cloudiness, λER-LST λEBREB. all data, both not biased showed, respectively, mean absolute relative error 24.5% 12.5% an index agreement 68.5% 80%.

A New Method for Estimation of the Sensible Heat Flux under Unstable Conditions Using Satellite Vector Winds
It has been difficult to estimate the sensible heat flux at the air–sea interface using satellite data because of the difficulty in remotely observing the sea level air temperature. In this study, a new method is developed for estimating the sensible heat flux using satellite observations under unstable conditions. The basic idea of the method is that the air–sea temperature difference is relat...
متن کاملFlux-Variance Method for Latent Heat and Carbon Dioxide Fluxes in Unstable Conditions
Applied previously to momentum and heat fluxes, the present study extends the flux-variance method to latent heat and CO2 fluxes in unstable conditions. Scalar similarity is also examined among temperature (θ ), water vapour (q), and CO2 (c). Temperature is adopted as the reference scalar, leading to two feasible strategies to estimate latent heat and CO2 fluxes: the first one relies on flux-va...
متن کاملA long-term study of soil heat flux under a forest canopy
International programmes such as EUROFLUX focus on the analysis of long-term fluxes and energy budgets in the biosphere. Reliable estimates of hourly energy budgets require an accurate estimation of soil heat flux, that is often non-negligible even in a forest, and can be predominant during the night. Over long periods of time such as one to several months, its contribution can also be signific...
متن کاملSensible and latent heat flux in the tropical Pacific from satellite multi-sensor data
Satellite multi-sensor data is used to derive sensible heat flux (SHF), Bowen ratio (Bo), and thus latent heat flux (LHF) in the tropical Pacific. The temperature differences at the air–sea interface are determined empirically for regions where strong deep air convection is present due to the buoyancy force. The vertical airflow results in surface wind divergence, which is estimated from scatte...
متن کاملEstimating sensible and latent heat flux densities from grapevine canopies using surface renewal
Fine-wire thermocouples were used to measure high-frequency temperature above and within canopies and structure functions were employed to determine temperature ramp characteristics, which were used in a fundamental conservation of energy equation to estimate sensible heat flux density. Earlier experiments over dense, tall, and short canopies demonstrated that the surface renewal method works, ...
